A Fixed Kilometre Plan is Comprehensive Insurance for those who spend less time behind the wheel. It’s Open’s pay as you drive offering. It can save your clients up to 30% off the price of their Everyday Comprehensive Insurance.
Clients can buy a certain number of kilometres, from 1,000 km to 15,000 km per year, depending on how many kilometres they think they’ll drive during the period of insurance.
After the policy is purchased, we’ll send your client a text asking for their start odometer reading. They can do this by clicking the link in the text message and entering it there.
They’ll need to provide this within 14 days of the start date of the policy, otherwise an additional excess of $1,000 will be applied to any claim.
Once the client provides us with their start odometer reading, we’ll send you an updated Certificate of Insurance to give them. This new COI will show the start odometer reading they provided, plus the end odometer reading for their policy. Their end odometer reading will be their start odometer reading plus the number of kilometres they purchased.
They’ll still be covered outside of this range, but if they make a claim and at the time of the claim their odometer reading is below the start odometer reading they gave us, or higher than the end odometer reading on their COI, an additional excess of $1,000 will be applied.
You can help them to top up their kilometres at any time in Open Broker by heading to ‘Make changes to a policy’ or through their client profile.
